Innovation award for M&S seedless pepper

14 February 2012

The Angello™ Sweet and Seedless Pepper developed by seed house, Syngenta, in conjunction with Bakkavor's Melrow Salads, has won the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award at this year's Fruit Logistica trade fair.

The Angello™ is currently exclusive to M&S in the UK and not only is it the first seedless snacking baby pepper available, it has also been developed with a sweeter taste than any other pepper on the high street and is extra crunchy.

The new Angello™ pepper is being grown in Southern Spain and Israel.

Commenting on the award, Bernard Sparkes who is responsible for produce development at Melrow Salads, said:

"We are delighted that the Angello™ has won this prestigious award – it's a fantastic product and it's great that it has been recognised for its innovative attributes. This is a world class achievement and Melrow Salads and M&S look forward to working with Syngenta's pepper breeder on the next stage of development of Seedless Peppers".
